‘Raising fire’: fire brigade and police respond en masse

1/3 Many police and fire brigades were on the scene for what turned out to be a false alarm

Large clouds of smoke and an orange glow. This was reported to the fire brigade in Eindhoven around a quarter to one Friday night. A company may have been on fire on Meerenakkerweg, near the Hurk industrial area. Fire brigade and police responded en masse after the 112 call. In the end there was no flame to be seen: smoke from the Sonac feed factory blew over the roof and a yellow lamp on the company grounds made it look as if a fire had broken out.

After the alarm was raised, the control room immediately sent five fire engines to the Meerenakkerweg. The police also reported with several vehicles. It soon turned out to be a false alarm.

It is not the first time that a serious fire has been reported at the company. In the past, the steam in combination with the yellow/orange glow of the lighting was often mistaken for fire. However, last summer something actually burned on the roof of the company. Clouds of black smoke could then be seen in the surrounding area.

More than a year ago there was definitely something going on at Sonac:
