Raised with love! These 9 Zoetermeerders are very proud of their sunflowers

Judith’s Sunflower

Judith van den Bosch’s tallest sunflower is 1.78 metres. “I have grown her and a whole bunch in our greenhouse during my illness from March this year. I was literally right on top of it to see how the sunflower would develop and grow.” When the weather got better and the plant was big enough, she placed the flower outside. In front of the window, so Judith could keep track of everything.

“I cared for and cherished her. In the photo the sunflower seems to have almost finished flowering but there are still plenty of buds in the crown. So we hope to see even more beautiful things. That also applies to my health, by the way.”

Rianne’s sunflower

Rianne Veeninga’s sunflower is now 2.10 meters. “But”, she indicates, “it will continue to grow for a while.” The yellow flower is in a beautiful white flower pot in a sunny spot in her backyard.

Bianca’s sunflower

Bianca sends a happy photo of her sunflowers with her children. The tallest sunflower is now 2.91 meters.

Thea .’s sunflower

Thea Harmans has two tall sunflowers in her garden on the Gaardedreef. One is 2.95 meters the other three meters long. That’s great!

Stefan’s sunflower

Stefan de Buck got the tip from a neighbor. “Send a photo of your sunflower to your neighborhood because it is really very long.” And indeed: his 4.45 meter sunflower is the largest we have received from our editors. Stefan has lived in Zoetermeer almost all his life and now lives at the Rotterdambaan in Benthuizen where you can admire him.

The sunflower of Jaimely and Sebastian

At the Vreebos in the Meerzicht district, Jaimely and Sebastiaan Boers take care of their sunflowers with love. The longest is 2.50 meters. “I am 1.90 meters tall myself, so in the photo you can clearly see how much longer the sunflower is,” says Sebastiaan.

The Sunflowers of Radha

Radha Dwarka has a front yard full of sunflowers. You can spot them in the Waarderstraat in the Oosterheem district. The sunflowers are 3.10 meters.

Beau’s sunflower

Beau’s sunflower almost touches the upstairs neighbors’ balcony. The longest is about 3.5 meters, he says. One beautiful face!

Jo .’s sunflower

Jo de Vries is proud to send in a photo of her special sunflower. “He is 2 meters and 49 centimeters and has 11 flowers.”

The sunflower can be admired at Suzannegang 40. “It is in our small vegetable garden that we maintain together.”
