Vandals have defaced the newly constructed rainbow square in Eindhoven. With red paint the text ‘fuck gay’ can be read there. The square was festively opened last month in honor of Pride month.
Organization Queer040 announced the destruction via Instagram. “Who is behind this act is still unknown. We have now informed the municipality of Eindhoven.”
During the council meeting on Tuesday evening, Mayor Dijsselbloem said that he is indeed aware of the graffiti. He also said that the municipality will file a report and that the work of art will be restored. The text would even have been removed. It was the mayor himself who unveiled the square a few weeks ago, prior to the Pride Walk.
During the pride month, several rainbow flags were also destroyed in Eindhoven and Helmond.
