Rain and accidents cause busy morning rush hour in the province

As expected, it is busy on the road today. Around eight o’clock this morning there is about 70 kilometers of traffic jams in the entire province. Rijkswaterstaat already predicted the crowds yesterday and therefore called on people to work from home if possible.

In the province it is busiest on the A9 between Amstelveen and Alkmaar. Due to an accident near Uitgeest, the left lane is closed here. This causes about 7 kilometers of traffic jam and a delay of 30 to 45 minutes. There are 27 kilometers of traffic jams on the entire A9.

Busiest days

Rijkswaterstaat predicted the traffic on the road yesterday, both in the morning and in the afternoon. The reason for this is a combination of “traffic volume and rainfall”. That is why the traffic organization called on people via Twitter to work from home yesterday.

Last Tuesday it was also very busy on the road and there were serious traffic jams due to the hard rain. At the peak of the evening rush hour, there were more than 600 kilometers of traffic jams on the highways. Tuesdays and Thursdays are traditionally the busiest days of the week on the road.
