During the large-scale raid against climate adhesives by the group “Last Generation”, the apartment of their spokeswoman Carla Hinrichs in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg was also searched.
The activists confirmed this on Wednesday. The “Augsburger Allgemeine” had previously reported that Hinrichs was one of the seven suspects in the investigation.
With the raid, the police and prosecutors took action against the climate protection group on Wednesday morning. Around 170 officers searched 15 apartments and business premises in seven federal states, as announced by the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office. The charge is to form or support a criminal organization.
It is determined against seven suspects who are between 22 and 38 years old. According to the Attorney General’s Office, five of them are accused of forming a criminal organization and two of supporting them.
Hinrichs is one of the most famous faces of the last generation and has been convicted several times for taking part in roadblocks.
call activists to protest marches
After the raids, the group has vehemently denied being criminals and is calling on supporters to take part in protest marches. At a press conference on Wednesday, Aimée van Baalen, spokeswoman for climate stickers, called on all citizens to take part in protest marches in many cities next Wednesday. A demonstration was supposed to take place in Berlin this Wednesday.
“The 15 house searches hit all supporters hard. They scare us, but we must not remain in that fear,” said van Baalen. “Do we first have to experience a drought in Germany, suffer from food shortages (…) before we understand that the last generation is responsible for all of our lives and that this is not criminal?” The spokeswoman continued to criticize. The climate protection group wants to continue to resist.
