The fire brigade responded to the report with two fire vehicles just after 11.30 pm, but switched to ‘major fire’ less than fifteen minutes later. The building previously housed a school and then a playgroup. According to the fire service, it is now an empty building.
Part of the building was destroyed by the fire. The fire service is cutting ventilation holes in the roof in several places. A lot of smoke was released from the fire. People who are affected are advised to close windows and doors.
No one was injured in the fire.
