A fierce fire caused a lot of damage this morning in a house on the Ringweg in Zaandam. The fire is now under control. No one was hurt.
The fire raged on the first floor and was out for some time. Photos show thick, black smoke escaping from the home through an open window. According to a witness, the top floor of the house was completely destroyed.
When the fire brigade arrived, the residents had already brought themselves to safety by leaving the house. Although the house is at least temporarily uninhabitable, the fire brigade ‘was able to prevent worse by acting quickly’, according to the Zaanstreek-Waterland Safety Region.
