Rafael Nadal withdraws injured, Kyrgios in Wimbledon final | Tennis

With Nadal’s retirement, Kyrgios is in the final of a grand slam tournament for the first time in his career. In the other semi-final, Cameron Norrie will face defending champion Djokovic.

Nadal was still in the running for the Calendar Grand Slam. Earlier this year he had won the Australian Open and Roland Garros. The Mallorcan has won 22 grand slam titles. Two more than both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

In his quarterfinal against Taylor Fritz it became clear on Wednesday that Nadal was experiencing a lot of hindrance from his injury. He defeated the American in an incredible way, but a day later the 22-time grand slam champion has to leave the tournament.
