RAF Camora becomes the most streamed German-speaking musician

With this milestone, the Austrian hip-hop musician even overtakes rap colleagues Capital Bra.

The rapper and dancehall artist RAF Camora is given a very special honor. Because according to the German market research company GfK Entertainment, the Austrian is the most streamed German-speaking musician of all time. With a total of over 4.5 billion streams, Camora even leaves the Berlin gangster rapper Capital Bra behind for sure.

RAF Camora: From retirement to pole position

Actually, Raphael Ragucci, the real name of RAF Camora, announced in 2018 that after his album ZENIT it would be over. The Austrian with Italian roots wanted to continue behind the scenes as a pure producer and hang up the microphone.

“From a business perspective, it’s illogical to stop when real money is flowing. But I’m not only a businessman, I’m also an artist. […] I’m a big Metallica fan. And I remember realizing at some point that what Metallica represents and what the people behind Metallica are no longer fit together. I have observed this point with many other artists as well. And I’ve always said to myself: If I ever become successful, I don’t want to exceed my zenith under any circumstances,” said Ragucci, explaining his retirement at the time.

After the success of ZENIT, however, he changed his mind and delivered several successors with the surprise album ZUKUNFT, ZUKUNFT II and PALMEN AUS PLASTIK 3, the final collaboration with Bonez MC. All three albums made it to the top of the charts and ensured Camora’s music continued to be streamed. And the success story doesn’t seem to end for the time being, because this Friday, June 23, the Viennese’s new album entitled XV will be released. Other successful German-speaking musicians such as the rapper Cro and Luciano are featured. Incidentally, the latter was the most streamed German-language artist in 2022.
