British radio presenter Tim Gough died on Monday (October 24) during a live broadcast at the age of 55. He was presenting the morning show on Suffolk station GenX Radio when he suddenly fell silent at 7.50am BST. The BBC suspects that the cause of death was a heart attack.

Tim Gough has come out of retirement and is back on the air for the first time in years, according to James Hazell, GenX Radio’s managing director. “Knowing Tim personally, as I have for over 30 years, was knowing a warm, caring, funny guy who I and my family loved dearly. The news breaks our hearts.”

“It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that our dear friend and breakfast presenter, Tim Gough, passed away this morning while presenting his programme. Our condolences go to his family, his son, sister, brother and mother. Tim did what he loved,” the radio station wrote on Twitter.

Gough began his career as a radio presenter in 1986 with Radio Orwell from Ipswich. He worked as a presenter and program director on radio stations including Trent FM, Leicester Sound, Saga Radio and Smooth Radio in the 1990s and 2000s.
