Rea Tallgren talks about her first days with her premature baby. The whole family is doing well.

Radio host Rea Tallgren had her first child together with her husband Samu Tallgrenin with on Wednesday. Iltalehti caught up with the new mother to comment on the family news.
Tallgren says that when heading to Lohja’s hospital, both she and her husband thought they were just going to check that the baby was okay.
– We thought that this must be a false alarm, Tallgren describes the trip to the hospital triggered by the downsizing.
– It turned out that this was not the case. I didn’t have any hospital bag packed, because I had naively thought that when the calculated time is a month, there is no need for one, says Tallgren and a smile can be heard in his voice.
Tallgren was surprised by the speed of the birth.
– The official time was 4.5 hours, which is quite fast for a first-time mother. Let’s just say that pain correlates “comfortably” with speed. Our daughter is obviously some kind of freak who decided to come into the world early and very quickly, Tallgren reflects.
According to the mother’s description, the little premature girl is doing just fine. On the way home, the light that will soon change to green has already been shown, if not green.
Tallgren now remembers the birth with humor.
– My husband’s favorite parts were said to be when I could hiss to him from the pleasure gas pump between contractions that “every time you speak, I want to kill you, because you are partly to blame for me being in this situation – so don’t say another word”, says Tallgren .
– So this is after he had encouraged and cheered me on, Tallgren adds with a laugh.
Hard road to motherhood
Relying on professionals has also been one of Tallgren’s great assets.
– I am indescribably impressed by the professionalism of the nurses, midwives and doctors, says Tallgren.
The new mother says that she is doing well herself – better every day.
– I have slept badly when I go on overtime. I just want to hold the baby and stare at him. Maybe when the sleep debt grows big enough, I’ll be able to sleep myself when the baby sleeps, says Tallgren.
The new mother’s heart has been warmed by messages from family and friends. Yes, and strangers.
– I have received extremely wonderful messages on social media from acquaintances and strangers. They have made me feel warm, I appreciate each one, Tallgren thanks.
Tallgren has previously spoken openly about her difficult path to becoming a mother. Tallgren talked about his infertility treatments, miscarriage, fears and dream of having a baby in an interview with Iltalehti in May.
Now a small family member is snuggling alongside.
