The news that RTL News weatherman Reinier van den Berg is also dealing with death threats has led to some hilarity on Radio 538.

Meteorologists and weather presenters such as Reinier van den Berg are increasingly confronted with threats from people who are skeptical about climate change. “I get a lot of dredging, including threats. That is really not for the cat,” he says in an interview with the VARA guide.

Severe weather

Of course a serious matter, but it has led to some hilarity in Tim Klijn’s Radio 538 show. Rob Scheepers, who has a regular humorous column in the program, takes Reinier on the grain.

Rob thinks we better laugh about it a bit. He jokes: “Weatherman Reinier van den Berg increasingly receives death threats when he tweets about the changing climate. According to the judge, however, they cannot take any measures because the online threateners invoke self-defense.”

‘A marriage’

We should not exaggerate such a death threat, Reinier jokes. “Being threatened with death because you don’t say exactly what the other person wants to hear. Or, as men call it: marriage.”

Rob himself takes the weatherman very seriously. “Reinier once tweeted that we should combine showering and urinating for water-saving reasons. And since then I shower at least nine times a day!”

Rob’s closing joke? “Reinier is a meteorologist, or, as drag queen Alisa says to herself every night after the make-up removal: ‘Weather man!’”

“That’s bad, isn’t it? haha.”
