After suspended President Yoon Suk-yeol’s detention was extended, hundreds of his radical supporters stormed a South Korean court on Sunday. The rioters destroyed furniture and emptied fire extinguishers at officers, prompting the police to make 46 arrests, Reuters reports. The acting leader of the Asian country calls the act of violence “unimaginable”.

The South Korean judiciary suspects Yoon of rebellion because he declared a military state of emergency on December 3. He claimed the country was threatened by “anti-state and pro-North Korean forces.” The offense carries a life sentence or even the death penalty (which has not been carried out for a long time).

Last Wednesday, more than three thousand police officers responded to arrest suspended President Yoon. Unlike earlier this month, Yoon’s security guards did not use force, allowing him to be taken in for questioning.
