Racing Club achieved an agonizing 2-1 away win against Independiente in a new edition of the Clásico de Avellaneda to remain as the sole leader of Group A of the Argentine Football Professional League Cup.

At the close of Saturday of the interzonal day of the classics, the team led by Fernando Gago prevailed with goals from Gabriel Hauche and Enzo Copettiwhile Lucas González had achieved the transitory tie for the ‘Rojo’.

Thanks to this win, the ‘Academia’ remains the only undefeated player in the contest and reached fifteen units, one more than Unión, which this Saturday equaled goalless as a visitor against Colón in a new edition of the Santa Fe classic.

In another of the outstanding duels this Saturday, San Lorenzo and Huracán also equalized with a blank score in a Buenos Aires classic that was played at a full stadium at the Pedro Bidegain.

First shift of the day Banfield won away to Lanús 1-0 with a goal from Luciano Lollo in a new classic from the south (of the troubled Buenos Aires) that deepened the crisis of ‘Granate’, which remains in the last positions of Group B.

On Friday, at the beginning of this interzonal day of classics, Tigre had ratified his great moment by thrashing Platense 4-0 in the reissue of the Clásico del Norte (from the Buenos Aires suburbs) after 42 years without playing in the first division.

In addition, in pairings that do not respond to the tradition of classics, Aldosivi from Mar del Plata had defeated Patronato de Paraná 4-1 and Barracas Central had added their third win in a row by winning 2-1 against Sarmiento de Junín.

For on Sunday there will be action in the Clásico de Rosario between Central and Newell’s Old Boys and in the Derby de La Plata between Gimnasia and Estudiantes as great appetizers of the Superclásico between River Plate and Boca Juniors.

Without so many rivalries on Monday they will cross Defense and Justice against ArsenalArgentinos Juniors against Vélez Sarsfield, while on Tuesday Atlético Tucumán will face Central Córdoba from Santiago del Estero and Talleres from Córdoba against Godoy Cruz from Mendoza.
