It is extremely controversial: marketing unreleased work by artists who have passed away. The artists in question will often have had all kinds of reasons for not releasing certain material, but the surviving relatives then simply make away with it, often for financial reasons.

‘I don’t rule anything out’

Rachel Hazes also now seems to be planning to release never-released records by her deceased lover André Hazes. “Do you think that new work by André Hazes will ever be released posthumously?” asks the Weekend her.

Rachel then said significantly: “I’m not ruling anything out, let me put it this way.”

In other words: Rachel has found something to cash in again. She has to hurry, because the inheritance case is coming up and it could be that Roxeanne will then be allowed to look after her father’s musical legacy.

Son André

Can’t Rachel just listen to her son André’s new records? De Weekend: “How are you currently following the career of your son André Hazes Jr.? He releases a lot of new music, he performs well again… Do you also listen to his music at home and in the car?”

Rachel, who has been at odds with her son for some time, responds gently: “Not necessarily at home. I often work there anyway. Reading all kinds of things, contracts and so on. Then I don’t have any music on, because I want it to be as quiet as possible so I can concentrate. I always have the radio on in the car.”

To clean

She mainly listens to old André. “Well, now I’m going to tell you something. It may sound very strange, but when I have a weekend off and I go to clean my house, I usually play André songs. For me, there is quite a bit of nostalgia and feeling behind that.”

And that’s not just his famous records. “We have so much material from Dré. Not only his CDs and stuff, but also the raw material and behind the scenes stuff that has never been released. They are invaluable.”

Oops, that will soon be a lot of money for his fans…
