Rachel Hazes sees her new music program Hazes is de Basis end up in the lower regions of the top 25 viewership. And the substantive responses? poor. “I’m getting nauseated!”
The musical legacy of André Hazes has been exploited very cleverly by Rachel Hazes for years. Or, as RTL Boulevard calls it: “It will soon be twenty years after the death of André Hazes and then you will still be carrying the corpse.” This time Rachel has devised an entire TV program around André, namely ‘Hazes is the basis’ on SBS 6.
Hazes at the bottom of the top 25
Rachel’s empire seems to have some hairline cracks, because Hazes is the Basis is not a success in the ratings. The program started yesterday with 487 thousand viewers (8% market share) and thus ended up in the lower regions of the top 25 viewing figure. The TV show in which celebrities sing André’s music remains in place 22.
According to AD media journalist Marcus den Blanken, it does not help that Rachel herself has such a prominent role in the show. “Hazes is the Basis seems like a great format. It’s just a shame that Rachel Hazes is being very hypocritical there. As if she was very happy with André. If she stays in the background, it can be fun,” he bits on Twitter.
Criticism of Rachel
Televizier journalist Jef Willemsen completely agrees. “40 percent fewer anecdotes from Rachel and it’s a top format (for the enthusiast). Now the music plays a supporting role.”
Marcus: “That’s exactly what it is. And anecdotes are allowed, but let the artists tell them nicely. (…) You can’t watch this without a slight vomit.”
Jef gets the creeps from the cast, with the little-loved presenter Jeroen van der Boom in addition to Rachel. “A minute of Hazes is the Basis, my tax for shameless, tone-deaf kitsch has already been reached. Dré as musical demigod, mainstay and coat rack… complete with beer.”
Who is the mole
The competition was quite fierce for Hazes is de Basis. The show was directly opposite viewing figure gun Wie is de Mol, which attracted 2.5 million viewers (40%) on NPO 1. RTL 4 managed to charm 1.1 million viewers (18%) with Weet Ik Veel. And then there was Hidden Past with 706 thousand viewers (11%) on NPO 2.
SBS 6 did a lot better at half past nine: Hoge Bomen with Frans Bauer as main guest scored 897 thousand viewers (15%). On the other hand, Matthijs goes door scored 1 million viewers (20%) on NPO 1, MolTalk 915 thousand viewers (17%) on NPO 3, Nieuwsuur 815 thousand viewers (14%) on NPO 2 and VriendenLoterij Miljonairs 741 thousand viewers (14%) on RTL 4.
Viewing figures
Programs that did not reach the top fifteen viewing figures include Hart van Nederland (635 thousand), Shownieuws (542 thousand) and Lachen om home videos (458 thousand).
