Little blunders seem to be part of his aura. At “Bild” Gottschalk had announced in advance that he would not prepare for his show. But it used brisk gags against his colleague and competitor Florian Silbereisen (41). When a reasonably fit superstar Robbie Williams (48) started his inn “Angels” and thousands of visitors in the Friedrichshafen exhibition hall let their cell phone lights glow, Thommy took a dig at Silbereisen: “The colleague can stay in Bethlehem with his little lights. That was more than 1000.” A distributor against the 1000 light shows of the hit king.

At least one more edition of “Wetten Dass ..?” is planned for the year 2023. The wide-screen mix with superstars like Robbie, Herbert Grönemeyer (66) or John Malkovich (68) and daredevil betting candidates on excavators or BMX bikes lures viewers to the telly, even in the non-linear media age.
