Aleksandr Ovetškin told the Russian media about the NHL’s wild plans.
PDO
Alexander Ovechkin was recently in an annual interview with the Russian MatchTV. The NHL star representing the Washington Capitals told a huge revelation from behind the scenes of the NHL.
According to Ovechkin, it really mattered little that NHL matches would have been seen on Russian soil. According to Ovechkin, the Capitals were supposed to play the St. Louis Blues in Russia. However, the proposed match had to be shelved.
– The match had to happen. Unfortunately, a well-known virus entered the world and a pandemic began, and the proposal was shelved. Only the papers remained unsigned for the match. We had to play two matches. One in Moscow and the other in St. Petersburg, Oveshkin lamented in an interview with MatchTV.
The NHL has not played a single official match on Russian soil. NHL matches have been played in Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, England and Japan, among others.
Due to the war of aggression started by Russia, it is very unlikely that NHL games against Russia will take place in the next few years.
KHL in mind
In the interview, Ovetškin also gives his own opinion on the chances of St. Petersburg SKA coach Roman Rotenberg to win the KHL championship. Ovechkin believes Rotenberg can reach the brightest, though there are variables.
– There are many factors that affect his situation. He can be a great coach. Or maybe nothing will come of this. As the coach of SKA, you have to win tournaments and championships. Everyone believes in him, he loves hockey, and I think he’ll be fine.
My diet
Even though Ovechkin is already 37 years old, he doesn’t need to count the calories he eats to stay in top shape. The Russian player has his own diet that he follows, and the rest he takes care of himself.
– All calories are burned on the ice and in training. I don’t want to give advice to those on a strict diet, but as they say in hockey, it’s the result that counts.
