What do Queens Of The Stone Age actually do? Frontman Josh Homme performed with his supergroup Them Crooked Vultures at the memorial concert for Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in September, but his main band has been quiet for the past several years. That could change soon: Jesse Hughes from fellow band Eagles of Death Metal has now said that QOTSA have recorded a new album.
In a live Instagram video, Hughes was asked what Eagles of Death Metal have been up to lately. “Record,” he replied. “We’re recording a new album. Queens just did one, now we’re doing ours.” The video was later shared on the platform Reddit spread.
The last QOTSA album to date was VILLAINS, released in 2017. For 2023 they have already been announced as headliners for the twin festivals Hurricane and Southside. The Eagles of Death Metal last released “Zipper Down” in 2015. 2019 also saw the release of the cover album EODM Presents Boots Electric Performing The Best Songs We Never Wrote, including songs by Kiss, Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC.
Eagles of Death Metal were formed in 1998 by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme. Homme has been on all the albums since then, but he doesn’t usually tour because he’s busy with Queens of the Stone Age. The band also gained tragic notoriety outside of the alternative scene when the terrorist attack at the Bataclan club took place during their 2015 concert in Paris. Since then, singer Hughes has repeatedly made headlines with his conservative views.
