Queen salutes from the palace balcony at the end of her anniversary celebrations

Big spectacle on Sunday in London! The Queen’s 70th Jubilee is coming to an end. On the final day on Sunday there was another big performance…

The big question beforehand: Will Queen Elizabeth II (96) make it onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace again or not?

The last hours of uncertainty are now over: In the afternoon, England’s monarch actually appeared on the historic balcony of her palace to greet the people. All in green, the color of hope.

Elizabeth came up on Thursday for the Trooping the Color military parade.

At her side today: son and heir to the throne Prince Charles (73) with his wife Camilla (74). And the Cambridges Prince William (39) with Hezrogin Kate (40) and children George (8), Louis (4) and Charlotte (7). There weren’t any more, as this time significantly fewer royals came up than in previous years, the meeting was correspondingly more airy.

Below is a very different picture… Thousands of people gathered outside Buckingham Palace throughout the day. And they were rewarded.

Despite health problems and recently numerous cancellations for her public appearances (e.g. for the service on Friday), the Queen still appeared in person at the end of her big anniversary celebration.

In a message published on Sunday evening, she thanked her for sharing her anniversary. There are no guidelines to follow, it said. “But I’m humbled and deeply touched that so many people came out to celebrate my platinum anniversary.” Even though she wasn’t able to attend all the events, she holds everyone in the country in her heart. She will continue to serve the people “as best I can, supported by my family”.

A pompous parade took place beforehand. Along with a golden carriage, in which the Queen was already waving. But still as a hologram. Luckily, the real queen also came at the end.

In 1953 she was crowned Elizabeth Queen and waved from the balcony for the first time.
