Queen Elizabeth’s coffin makes such a journey before the funeral

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 at Balmoral Castle. He was 96 years old when he died.

The BBC reports, how before the Queen’s funeral on September 19, her coffin will be moving around in numerous places. The casket is currently still in Balmoral, from where it will be moved to Edinburgh on Sunday 11 September. The transport distance is about 300 kilometers and it is said to take about six hours.

Citizens have the opportunity to bid farewell to the monarch who ruled the country for more than 70 years. The coffin arrives in Edinburgh at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

On Monday, the casket will continue its journey to St. Giles Cathedral. In addition to King Charles, other members of the royal family are expected to attend the service organized there.

From Edinburgh, the coffin continues its journey towards London, where it will first be transported to Buckingham Palace. From there it is to move towards Westminster Hall.

The actual blessing ceremony will be held in the Westminster Abbey church, where Elizabeth and Philip were married in 1947. In addition to the royal family, British politicians and, in addition to the sitting prime minister, previous prime ministers are expected to attend the ceremony.

The Queen’s oak coffin is said to be wrapped in a royal flag. Flowers are placed on top of it.
