Queen consort Camilla plotted herself into power

Charles and Camilla originally met each other in the 70s at a polo match. A couple of years later, friendship turned into love. In the court’s opinion, Camilla was not suitable for the future king’s spouse because she was no longer a virgin. Also, his background was not aristocratic enough.

The two later ended up in a secret relationship, which was also revealed to Charles’ then-spouse, Princess Diana. In particular, the sensitive phone conversation between Charles and Camilla that became public in 1993 raised an uproar.

Despite everything, the couple got married in 2005. In May of this year, the coronation of King Charles will take place. Queen consort Camilla will also be crowned at the same event.
