Pfirst state visit for Prince Charles. Having skipped the meeting with President Macron in France, Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla went to Germany, to Berlin.
The monarch wore the Queen Mother’s Greville tiara and Queen Elizabeth’s City of London Fringe necklace for the state banquet in Berlin. Two jewels with enormous emotional and economic value. And which highlight one thing: the current sovereign intends to carry on the message of the two previous Windsor monarchs.
Queen Camilla changes style
Until today, Queen Camilla had not changed her style remaining faithful to hers, casual and modest. Fashion is not among her main interests and her looks proved it. Unlike Kate Middleton, Camilla continued to wear clothes and accessories according to her codes.
But the coronation is approaching and for what has been the most detested figure in the United Kingdom due to the forbidden liaison with the then Prince Charles, the time has come to stand out.
The Queen Mother’s tiara
Camilla chose the Greville Tiara. She belonged to the queen mother. It is shaped like a honeycomb. Created in 1921 by the French jeweler Boucheron it was then modified by Cartier who added round diamonds and one marquise cut.
It’s worth around £3 million.
The dark gown was illuminated by appliqués that cascaded down silver floral appliqués. It was designed by Bruce Oldfield, a designer also much loved by… Diana Spencer. The stylist will also tailor the look for Camilla’s coronation.
Queen Camilla also wore the star of the Order of the Garter together with the Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit.
In the blue painted blue
The queen consort also wore the City of London fringed necklace that belonged to Queen Elizabeth. The precious jewel includes 56 diamond bars and was part of one of the wedding gifts received by Elizabeth II in 1947, in particular from financial figures of the City of London.
Upon his arrival in the German capital he opted for a light blue coat – also by Bruce Oldfield. It is a color also much loved by Queen Elizabeth who, in reality, all kinds of chromatic shades to get noticed.
It seems that Queen Camilla loves blue because it highlights blue eyes and serves her to convey professionalism and seriousness. At least according to celebrity stylist and fashion expert Miranda Holder in an interview with ExpressUK.
