Quarrel between Van Quickenborne and Van Peteghem: “No tax reform if there is a tax reduction for the unemployed and living wage earners”

It is overarm between Deputy Prime Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld) and Deputy Prime Minister Vincent Van Peteghem (CD&V). Van Quickenborne put his heels in the sand on Sunday at ‘VTM News’: “If the Minister of Finance and the other parties stick to the tax reduction for the unemployed and living wage earners, then there will be no tax reform for us.” Minister Van Peteghem immediately responded: “In my proposal, the increase in the tax-free allowance is neutralized for those who do not work”. Which then again lured Van Quickenborne out of his tent: “He is contradicted by his own cabinet and administration!”
