Iraq started qualifying for the U23 Asian Championship with an exclamation mark. The 2013 champions beat Macau 13-0 to claim the biggest win in FA history. Ridha Fadhil, who was involved in six goals, was named player of the match.
Meanwhile, the heavyweights from South Korea and Saudi Arabia were struggling. While reigning victors Saudi Arabia sealed a 3-1 win over Mongolia in the ninth and 13th minute of added time, South Korea lost 2-0 to Qatar. Bayern loan Hyun-ju Lee from SV Wehen Wiesbaden came off the bench.
