Arianne Hartono failed to qualify for the second round of the Warsaw WTA tournament. The number 169 in the world lost 6-4 5-7 6-3 to the Swiss Viktorija Golubic, who is 66 places higher in the global ranking.

Hartono forced a third set after falling 4-1 in the second set and surviving three match points at 5-4, but Golubic was still too strong. In the deciding set, the Dutch still led 2-0. She lost five games in a row in the third set and after 2 hours and 33 minutes, Golubic used her fifth game point.

The 26-year-old Hartono won two qualifying matches in the Polish capital last weekend.
