Quadarella show. A golden show in the longest, most grueling race in the pool: the 1500. A second gold at the World Championships in Doha like in 2019 in Gwangju. The twenty-five year old Aniene representative coached by Christian Minotti immediately takes the lead: in the 100m she turns in 1’00″45, in the 200m in 2’03″87, always caught between the Chinese and the German. The pace of the Roman (at 400 in 4’10″51) thanks to higher frequencies is very effective and the gap begins to grow on her rivals. The progression is increasing, the lead of the race is safe now with an average under 32″, the only one to do it. At the 800m, Simona has half gold in 8’22″49. In the second part, Simona relaxes in her monologue. At the 1200m, the last, most delicate passage travels in 12’12″36. By now she too is done if her stroke becomes shorter: in the last 300 meters she can swim thinking only of the time, of the triumph, of the Games earned. It is a second title in 15’46″99 (not far from her Italian record of 15’40″89) with a monstrous margin over the Chinese at 9″63 and the German at 10″56.

Constant

The first Italian youth Olympic champion in Nanjing in 2014, at an absolute level in 2017 in Budapest the Roman achieved a bronze at the World Championships in Budapest in the 1500m. In 2018 she won 3 European golds in Glasgow in the 400-800-1500m freestyle. In 2019 in Gwangju in South Korea she won the world title in the 1500m and was silver in the 800m. In Tokyo, after fifth place in the 1500m she redeemed herself by winning bronze behind the American Katie Ledecky and the Australian Ariarne Titmus . She reiterated bronze at the 2022 World Championships, while in 2023 she returned to deputy Ledecky in the 30 pools. In the Italian ranking of multi-medalists after Federica Pellegrini 11 (with 6 gold), Gregorio Paltrinieri 8, now with Thomas Ceccon at 6 there is Rosolino behind at 5 and Magnini at 4. In the final of the 200 freestyle, another South Korean feat , this time signed by Hwang Sunwoo, who beat the Lithuanian Danas Rapsys (1’45″05, in the semi-final 1’44″96) and the American Luke Hobson in 1’44″75. The gold in the 200 and 400 freestyle made in Korea. The times of Park tae Hwan seem to have returned…
