‘Qatarese investors get involved in takeover of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United’ | Foreign football

A consortium of Qatari investors has joined the battle to take over Manchester United. The group wants to, according to news agency sources Bloomberg make an offer this week for the club of trainer Erik ten Hag.

The consortium wants to make a first offer for the club by the end of the week. Officials from Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) would assist with preparations for the bid. QSI also owns Paris Saint-Germain.

Competition from Ratcliffe

The Glazer family, the American owners of United, are considering a sale. The listed club announced this in November. A month ago, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe also entered the bidding process with his company INEOS. Ratcliffe formally started the process last month to take over the club from trainer Erik ten Hag.

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that Qatari investors are planning to make a huge bid for Manchester United. According to the British newspaper, the interested investors are separate from QSI and the money comes from an ‘individual fund’ rather than a government fund. The government of Qatar is therefore not involved in a possible takeover.

The club from Manchester is currently third in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Arsenal. The Londoners have played two games less.
