Karabakh and Bayer Leverkusen duke it out in the first match of the UEFA Europa League last 16 round. French referee Benoit Bastien blew the whistle in the match played at Tofiq Bahramov Stadium.
Karabağ, who finished the first half of the match leading 2-0, could not maintain its superiority and left the match with a 2-2 draw.
Karabakh’s goals were scored by Yassine Benzia in the 26th minute and Juninho in the 45th minute. Bayer Leverkusen’s goals came from Florian Wirtz in the 70th minute and Schick in the 90th minute.
The rematch between the two teams will be played on Thursday, March 14, hosted by Leverkusen.
