Pyry Santahuh was disqualified: a stolen start took away the medal seams

Pyry Santahuhda had a chance for the first SM medal of his career. Sauma went to the thief’s start.

Quick beeper Pury Santahuhta burst into tears in the final of the 110-meter real Kaleva Games. A man from Leisku in the Kankaanpää region also cried profusely in the athletes’ tent.

Santahuhta was disqualified in the final due to a stolen start.

– Extreme bullshit, the runner sighed, wiping away tears.

According to the rules of athletics, the runner is allowed to start 0.1 seconds or 100 milliseconds after the start gun goes off.

Santahuhta is quick to react.

– The limit of 0.1 is the stupidest rule that can be found in athletics. It takes the flavor out of this species. A person is clearly able to react better. It has been seen many times.

– The average of my reactions is 0.01 something. Thief departure comes easily. No one is trying to do anything fraudulent. I just listen and go.

The reaction time rule also came up in July at the World Championships in Athletics, when the world star of the 110-meter hurdles Devon Allen rejected due to theft. He reacted one millisecond too fast.

Santahuhta has been rejected for the same reason before.

– This is what happened at the Junior Championship, I was the early favorite there.

Medal chance

Pyry Santahuhta is not satisfied with the rules. Anni Saarela

Santahuhta also had strong chances in the finals of the Kaleva Games.

In the preliminaries, he was the second fastest in his division and the third best in the entire group with a time of 14.82. My record this season is 14.44.

A teammate in the final Eero Hirvinen won bronze with a time of 14.75.

– I would have run harder than 14.75, which was required for bronze. I would have been on the sidelines of the medal. I haven’t received a medal from the Kaleva Games before, Santahuhta regrets.

The unfortunate situation is that Santahuhta is unable to influence the situation. The process of amending the rules is slow.

– I can’t train it either. Can’t start slowing down. I’ll leave as soon as I hear.

Won the Finnish championship Elmo Lakka with a time of 13.77. Ilari Manninen for real silver (13.98).
