The catastrophe happened one day before the second Advent!
In the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland in Hoppegarten, a fire broke out in a single-family home at around 1.30 a.m. on Saturday night.
According to initial findings, the trigger should be a Christmas pyramid that is operated with tea lights. The fire quickly spread throughout the house.
The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire, but did not prevent a high level of property damage.
The occupant of the house had already gotten to safety, but was taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
A fire commissioner of the Brandenburg police is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
