Drenthe turns almost completely blue on the results map the morning after election day. The PVV has become the largest in eleven of the twelve municipalities. Only in Tynaarlo did a different winner emerge. GroenLinks-PvdA became the largest party there.
In Drenthe, 26 percent of voters chose the party of party leader Geert Wilders. This made the PVV by far the largest. Support for the party has doubled compared to the previous elections in 2021, when 12.4 percent voted for the PVV. The party won many votes, especially in Emmen, Hoogeveen, Borger-Odoorn and Coevorden.
Newcomer New Social Contract (NSC) occupies second place in Drenthe and received 16 percent of the votes. Support for GroenLinks-PvdA also increased slightly in the province by 1.4 percent and received 14 percent of the votes.
While the VVD of party leader Dilan Yesilgöz was the largest in Drenthe in 2021 with 20.4 percent of the votes, in the current elections the party finished fourth in Drenthe with 12.6 percent of the votes.
Tynaarlo is the odd one out in Drenthe. This municipality turns red because GroenLinks-PvdA was the only Drenthe municipality to receive the most votes here. The party of party leader Frans Timmermans received 22.3 percent of the votes. The VVD (16.2) is also ahead of the PVV (15.7) in Tynaarlo.
Yesterday, slightly more people went to the polls in Drenthe than in 2021. This year the turnout is 80.9 percent. Two years ago that was 80.2 percent.
