PVV member Nico Uppelschoten from Eelde may still go to The Hague

The PVV has become the largest party with 37 seats in the House of Representatives. Nico Uppelschoten (79) from Eelde is in position 39 on the PVV electoral list. He actually did not want to be in the House of Representatives and thought he was in an unelectable position.

But when the PVV comes into the cabinet, The Hague seems to be calling anyway. “Yes, I think so too,” says Uppelschoten. “I had decided to stand in an undesirable position. Also because of my personal situation as an informal caregiver for my wife. I have to think very carefully about how I can find a decent solution for this. It depends on that.”

Uppelschoten expects that there will be a government on the right. “It is expected that BBB, NSC and the VVD will participate.” VVD party leader Dilan Yesilgöz has previously indicated that he does not want to sit in a cabinet under Wilders. “Then she cannot do that, but another VVD member can. Perhaps she should become party leader.” Uppelschoten cannot imagine a cabinet of GroenLinks-PvdA, VVD, NSC and D66. “The differences are too great, the past has proven that such a cabinet cannot solve the problems we face.”

Uppelschoten cannot imagine that BBB and NSC do not want to work with the PVV. “If there is such a result and the voters have said that the PVV must be so big and must take government responsibility. Then you cannot say that we will not do that. These are parties that attach great importance to democracy, then you can don’t ignore it.”
