That investigation is not yet finished, while the PvdA member already had to decide whether he would take the seat.
Ploumen’s successor, Attje Kuiken, had previously said that Van Dijk could not just return to the PvdA during the investigation. Only if the investigation would exonerate him could he again speak on behalf of the PvdA.
According to Van Dijk, he is innocent. But he only wants to sit in the House of Representatives for the PvdA, not to become a new loner. “A difficult decision? Unwise. But I’m not a job hunter. I only want to return as a full social democrat, otherwise not.”
