The PvdA in Kerkrade is making a change of councilor. In the intended new coalition of Citizens’ Interests, Ons Kerkrade, PvdA and Elderly Party, René van Drunen will become alderman for the PvdA.
He takes the place of Leo Jongen. He has been an alderman since 2010.
Commitment and fun
Boy will remain a member of the city council. “I have worked with great dedication and pleasure for the residents of Kerkrade as an alderman. In the coming years I will do that from the municipal council,” said Jongen. René van Drunen has been a councilor since 2010 and party chairman since 2014. In this new term of office, this position will be held by Sander Gorissen, who is in his thirties.
Changes
According to the Kerkraadse PvdA, the changes in position have to do with the focus on rejuvenation in the coming years. “So that our party can continue to play a role in local government in the future,” the party said.
Alderman-to-be René van Drunen will conduct the coalition talks on behalf of the PvdA together with board member and former alderman Hans Bosch.
Gus Haas
As soon as Van Drunen is elected alderman, the place of Van Drunen in the city council will be taken by Guus Haas.
The PvdA dropped from 4 to 3 seats in the elections in March. Citizens’ interests is by far the largest party in Kerkrade with 11 of the 29 seats.
