The Labor Party departments in De Wolden, Meppel and Westerveld will continue together in the new Southwest Drenthe department from the end of February. The PvdA factions in the three municipal councils will continue at their current pace independently of each other.
In the Southwest Drenthe region, solutions must be found in the coming years for social problems and developments such as housing, energy transition, agriculture and nature, water and spatial planning. The current three departments believe that they can do more if they join together and bundle the knowledge, experience and efforts of the members.
The merger of the three departments has no consequences for the PvdA factions in the three municipal councils. They continue to make their contributions to municipal politics independently of each other. Forces will be joined on issues that affect the region.
