Russian President Vladimir Putin has given his consent to equip Belarusian warplanes with the capability to carry nuclear weapons. This has been confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Neighboring countries Belarus and Russia have already announced that they will set up a joint military unit. With the new decision, Putin increases fears of a further escalation of the war in Ukraine.
