The fondness of the Russians for the Spanish coast is well known.
The Costa del Sol is one of their favorite destinations, either to spend the hot summers dotted with uninterrupted social activity or to go unnoticed among the compatriots who have residence in the area. Well, the same thing happens in the White Coast of Alicante and it could be said that one of its towns has been chosen to buy a villa by one of the most influential Russians in the world and who today has humanity on edge after having invaded Ukraine causing a war, Vladimir Putin.
In 2019 a television program discovered that the very president of Russia chooses a house in Altea to spend the summer months, and not anywhere, but would be located in the exclusive urbanization Altea Hills whose facilities cannot be accessed unless invited by one of its neighbors. A barrier with 24-hour security personnel keeps these opulent homes safe from prying eyes.
The signs in Cyrillic alphabet that we found in the beautiful municipality of Altea can give the visitor an idea of the weight that Russian citizens have in this part of the Valencian Community. In fact, according to the president of Casa Russia in Alicante, it is estimated that there are about 25,000 citizens of this country registered in the province.
Many of them have a high purchasing power that allows them to access residences reserved for billionaires with prices that can cloud the mind. In the aforementioned Altea Hills urbanization you can find apartments that are close to half a million euros up to mansions of 7,500,000 euros.

But the wonderful weather and the fantastic views of this town are not the only things that Putin has enjoyed during his stays in Altea. A few years ago it was discovered that the Russian president has a great fondness for aesthetic care and he worries about his image (the swelling of his face could make one suspect that he has resorted to surgical interventions to escape the signs of aging).
