Putin reveals what he owns ahead of elections: an apartment, a garage, three cars and a trailer | War Ukraine and Russia

The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation has published President Putin’s financial declaration in the run-up to the presidential elections in March this year. It contains an overview of his assets. The document raises eyebrows.

Putin had to reveal details of his income and assets as part of his registration for the upcoming presidential elections. If the document is to be believed, he earned a total of 67.59 million rubles or 694,421 euros over the past six years. This includes his salary, a military pension and income from securities and real estate sales.

In addition, he indicates that he owns an apartment of 77 square meters and a garage of 18 square meters in Saint Petersburg. He says he also has three cars – a 1960 GAZ M21 (Volga), a 1965 GAZ M21 (Volga) and a 2009 Lada Niva – and a trailer.

He also says he has 54.41 million rubles (559,663 euros) in the bank, spread over ten accounts. And also 230 shares of the PJSC Bank in Saint Petersburg. The nominal value of one such share is 11.81 rubles or 0.12 euros.

Among the liabilities of a capital nature, he lists an apartment of 153.7 square meters in Moscow, which the Russian government allows him to use indefinitely. In addition, he also mentions a parking lot of 18 square meters in Saint Petersburg, of which he also has indefinite use.

That sounds very modest for the leader of Russia, but not really realistic. Putin’s real wealth is therefore estimated to be much higher. It is not known exactly how much it amounts to. But according to the business magazine ‘Forbes’ it could amount to 200 billion euros, which would make Putin one of the richest people in the world.

According to Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, Putin has a 1.5 billion euro palace on the Black Sea. The “most expensive palace in the world” is located on an estate that is 39 times the size of Monaco and, in addition to vineyards, also houses an ice hockey hall and a casino.

Putin also has a secret “winter palace” in the Caucasus Mountains, according to Navalny. It is a luxurious private ski resort, where he can enjoy winter sports to his heart’s content. It includes two chic villas, a guesthouse, a wellness center and a helipad. It even has anti-aircraft defenses.

And then there’s the extravagant ‘dacha’ (Russian for ‘a holiday home in the countryside’) on the shores of Europe’s largest lake. He is also linked to Putin. Next to the spectacular wooden main building with large glass windows, there is a ‘barn’ with a brewery containing 345,000 euros worth of material.

There are also two small swimming pools, a trout farm and a cattle farm. There is also a Garden House with six bedrooms and six bathrooms on the lake. It has marble floors costing more than 100,000 euros and one bidet tap even costs more than 10,000 euros.
