Putin made his comments at an economic forum in Vladivostok. Trump wants to face current President Joe Biden again next year in the battle for the presidency. Whoever wins, according to Putin, there will be no major changes in the relationship between the two countries.
Putin also lashed out at the US decision to supply Ukraine with controversial cluster munitions and depleted uranium ammunition. Putin also criticized the US for allowing countries to send F-16s to Ukraine. According to him, the fighter planes will not change anything in Ukraine and will only prolong the conflict.
Trump caused a commotion last month with some statements about the war in Ukraine. The former American president reiterated, among other things, that there would never be a war between Russia and Ukraine if he were still president. The reason for that? Trump was “the apple of Putin’s eye,” he himself claimed.
Regarding Ukraine, Putin said again on Tuesday that the counter-offensive is not producing results, despite the fact that the Ukrainian army has recaptured areas.
The president says he has the impression that Ukraine has almost exhausted its resources and may therefore want to start peace talks. The government in Kiev refuses negotiations as long as areas are occupied by Russia.
