Russian President Vladimir Putin offered condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping after a passenger plane crashed in the south of the country. Telegram published on the Kremlin website.

“Please accept our most sincere condolences in connection with the death of passengers and crew members of the aircraft flying from Kunming to Guangzhou. In Russia, they share the grief of those who lost their relatives and friends in this tragedy, ”the telegram says.

The Boeing 737-800 of China Eastern Airlines crashed in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. The board fell in a mountainous area, after which a fire started at the crash site. There were 123 passengers and nine crew members on board, flying from Kunming Changshui Airport in Yunnan province to Guangzhou.

The company then decided to “immediately suspend operation of the remaining Boeing 737-800s while we investigate and determine the causes” of the crash. In total, China Eastern Airlines uses 106 aircraft of this model, Ch-aviation reports.
