The West has repeatedly ignored Russia’s fears about its actions and NATO expansion, President Vladimir Putin said at an annual press conference, broadcast by RBK.

According to him, the West had to treat Russia as a possible Ally, to strengthen it. But everything was the other way around: “there was an attempt to further collapse, NATO began to expand to the east,” the president explained.

Putin noted that Moscow said the West had promised not to do so. “And they tell us:“ Where is it written on a piece of paper? There is not. Well, that’s all, go further. We wanted to spit on your concerns, ”Putin explained. According to him, this continued from year to year, and each time Russia expressed concern, tried to obstruct the actions of the West.

“You go with your concerns. We will do what we think is necessary, ”Putin said, citing the position of the West.
