Alexei Navalny (47), the Russian opposition leader and one of President Vladimir Putin’s best-known critics, is said to have died in his cell. This was reported by the prison authorities of the prison camp where Navalny was imprisoned, in the autonomous district of Yamalia. The opponent’s team has still not received confirmation of his death on Friday evening. Russian police are cracking down on people who publicly mourn Navalny’s death. More than 100 people had already been arrested in several cities on Friday evening, reports civil rights organization Ovd-Info.
