Russia’s mission in the world is to strengthen and develop the Russian world and increase its attractiveness both for the Russians themselves and for the citizens of other countries, said President Vladimir Putin at the ceremony of presenting the highest state awards. The broadcast was conducted by the TV channel “Russia 24”.
“He is such a many-sided Russian world, huge. We didn’t create it. Our mission is to strengthen it, develop it and make it attractive for our citizens, for the whole world,” the President said.
Putin called the collapse of the USSR a tragedy and “the collapse of historical Russia”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an article for Rossiyskaya Gazeta in 2015 wrote that “providing all-round support to the Russian world is an unconditional foreign policy priority” of the country, and this provision is fixed in the Concept of Russian Foreign Policy.
In 2016, the minister clarified that this concept is not related to nationalism. It concerns “the protection of compatriots, the promotion of the ideals and values of the ‘Russian world’ and reflects our multinational culture,” Lavrov explained.
