It’s been four years since PushaT fans have been waiting for a new album after the Bronx-born rapper released his critically acclaimed DAYTONA in 2018. Some time ago, Pusha T announced that the wait was over this year. Now he also names the title and the release date of his new project. As a short album trailer reveals, it is called IT’S ALMOST DRY – and will be released this Friday (04/22/2022).

Prominent producers and numerous features

The album will include the previously released songs “Neck and wrist“, “Diet Coke” and “Hear Me Clearly“ contain. A full tracklist is not yet available. What is known, however, is that IT’S ALMOST DRY will comprise twelve tracks and will feature features by Kid Cudi, Lil Uzi Vert, Don Tolliver, Pharrell, Jay-Z and Kanye West. The latter also produced half of the album. The hip-hop producer team Pharrell/The Neptunes is responsible for the other six songs.

Pusha T explains the album title “IT’S ALMOST DRY”

To the “Rolling StoneExplaining the dual meaning of the album’s title, Pusha T said, “I always create masterpieces, and when I create paintings, you always end up saying to people, ‘It’s almost dry [It’s almost dry]’ because they always ask, ‘When will it be ready?’. But you have to wait for a masterpiece. It’s the same in drug culture: there are often people who wait for their product because it isn’t dry yet. You can pick it up when it’s dry.” In short: “Good things take time”.

He himself seems to be at least convinced of the quality of IT’S ALMOST DRY. Earlier this year, he dubbed his then-untitled project the “album of the damn year,” stating, “It takes a long time to make a Pusha album… but once it’s done, it’s unbeatable. I’m on some hundred percent rap superhero shit. You know me, I have to reinvent myself. I just have to reinvent my greatness.”

However, the rumors that Pusha T did not want to release his album for a few weeks, but has now preferred it in order not to directly compete with the just announced album by Kendrick Lamar, do not quite fit this quote. Lamar’s album MR. MORALE & THE BIG STEPPERS is scheduled for release on May 13, 2022.
