SBS 6 urgently needs to step on the brakes when it comes to programs with the Meilandjes, according to entertainment journalist Jordi Versteegden of De Telegraaf. “Take it easy.”
The Meilandjes were frequently seen on SBS 6 in recent weeks. Not only with their program Chateau Bijstand, but also with a tsunami of repeats of Chateau Meiland. They were seen as a replacement for Today Inside during the candlestick absence of that program. The painful? At most, about 250,000 people watched it.
‘Step on the brakes!’
Journalist Jordi Versteegden of De Telegraaf sees this as proof that SBS 6 is no longer in a situation that everything the Meilandjes touch turns into gold. When his colleague Wilson Boldewijn points out that the channel can’t do without the TV family, Jordi says: “I dare to doubt it.”
The Meilandjes are collapsing a bit, he sees. “They scored 1 million viewers on Monday [met de laatste Chateau Bijstand], but there are really more and more sounds of people saying: ‘Just step on the brake, take it easy.’ That is also indicative of the reruns that were shown.”
Meiland-less summer
Those Meiland reruns were a ratings drama. “They were only viewed by about 200,000 people. I think they should step on the brakes for a while and then quietly return after the summer.”
Jordi agrees that there will be little Meiland TV until then. “There are plans to show some reruns in the summer, but that will not be daily. So no Meilandjes on television for the time being”, concludes at Telegraph TV†
