Purveyor to the Royal Household for Schutrups Schoenen in Exloo

Schutrups Schoenen in Exloo has been awarded the title of Purveyor to the Royal Household. The company has been around for a hundred years and already applied for such a designation last year.

Last Monday, that request was approved by King Willem-Alexander. The designation was awarded to Jan Schutrups this afternoon by Mayor Jan Seton. “I just absolutely love it,” is all Jan Schutrups can say after receiving the designation.

Schutrups may now use the royal coat of arms with the addition By Royal Decree, Purveyor to the Court. The designation is intended for small and medium-sized companies that play an important role in the environment.

Other conditions are that the company must be at least a hundred years old and that it must be of impeccable conduct. The shoe store did not qualify for the Royal designation because the company is too small for it.

Schutrups started as a family business in 1923 and is now run by the third generation. People from the fourth generation also work in the company.
