Purebred cat show in Uitgeest: Nappie and Veyron live up to expectations

The Uitgeest cat show is a highlight for those who love purebred cats. Due to corona, the event was canceled twice, but this weekend sports center De Zien is again bursting with forest cats, tabby cats and Siamese.

Joke Smid and Bianca Overboom are two of the many cat lovers competing for the titles. Joke is present with Nappie, Bianca hopes to do well in the junior category with the young Norwegian forest cat Veyron.

They brush their darlings until the very last moment. They are about to be examined by the judge and must therefore look very fine. Bianca and Joke are both confident: “I think I have a good chance”, they both say.

Once they have handed over their cats, all they can do is watch. Bianca saunters back and forth nervously, she has her mind set on this prize. Joke has been around for a while. She has already won several prizes with Nappie.

And the winner is…

The judges take their time, which increases the tension. But then comes the redeeming word. Veyron is first in the junior class. “Great,” says the emotional Bianca. “Veyron has done very well.” Nappie also comes first in her category. “Super”, Joke responds, while she looks endearingly at her cat. “And let’s be honest: it’s a great cat too!”
