With the documentary ‘FIRE: early retirement’, the VRT wants to inspire young people to become financially independent. Only for now they seem to offend a large part of the real FIRE community. “There is a real sense of rejection and betrayal,” said Sébastien Aguilar, the founder of the Belgian branch. He explains what FIRE is all about, and how he handles his money. “I have been financially independent since I was 33, but my story was too boring for the program makers.”
