Purchasing power is falling, but the demand for ‘give-away bikes’ is growing

This continues the trend that started a year ago, chairman Paul Buis of the foundation told NH Nieuws. In the shed of the foundation on the grounds of football club HSV in Zwaag, about a hundred refurbished bicycles are currently waiting for a new owner(s). “In a week or two they will all be gone,” says Buis with satisfaction. Since last year, the number of bicycles he provides to minimums has doubled. The counter is now at 3051.

Donations

The foundation that runs on volunteers relies on donations. Sponsors give money, bicycles or lend trailers and private individuals donate bicycles and money to the foundation. Party

On September 10, there will be a big celebration that three thousand bicycles have been awarded to minimum workers. In the meantime, the party committee has been overtaken by the facts, because the counter is already at 3051. All the more reason to celebrate. That is what happens on the grounds of HSV Sport in Zwaag.

There are all kinds of activities on site from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is a bouncy castle, there are snacks and, as icing on the cake, Karin Bloemen, ambassador of the foundation, will hand out two bicycles to two children who have fled Ukraine.
